Great new European maps for outdoor activities

I just wanted to let you know about my new favorite map source. Take a look at

It's an excellent map, perfectly suited for smartphone screens and outdoor activities like hiking and mountainbiking (including mtb difficulty level!)

I have already spoken to the admin, he is allowing us to download their maps with NaviComputer/NaviMapper without restrictions! All you need to do is adding the following lines to your mapsources.xml:

<MapSource ID="4UMaps">

    Great.... sitting in the field in Slovenia it seems to work although I think you need something above zoom 15 for walking. I have been also experimenting with maperative and altering the created features by x2 times size. This gets down to 18 zoom level but only worth doing for small areas of 15 by 15 kilometres say. Similar to output with contours but boosted resolution size and zoom levels.

    Mapcruncher has also been useful on those local national maps which are highly detailed but not shareable. Accuracy after registration isn't as good as openstreet. Time for bed in those alpine mountain valleys...

    After putting the code (above) in my xml file and open navimapper, the tiles do not show up correctly. They are not matched up to the tiles next to them. They are all offset which means that the roads on the edge of the tile doesn't continue on the next tile. Can you help.

    That sounds like an indexing problem. The code above worked fine for me but if you were to switch things around it may not, alternatively may be the map which you are looking at has been incorrectly rendered from the vector file [s]. Essentially the 4UMaps are generated from a vector file[s] and if there was a problem with that process in a particular geography area that could be the problem. You could try looking somewhere else on the map, other than that pass.

    You can find good stuff on Navicomputer on the net with strategic googles and that Firefox addin is helpful :).

    I'm pretty happy with Navicomputer, holidays and trips would never be the same without.

    I see the developer has gone a bit quite recently, hopinjg they are saving up for the Windows Phone 8 which hopefully will address the short comings of Navicomputer if it was released for 7 e.g. lack of storage for maps, 7 not supporting MicroSD cards as I understand and 8 well. Although some people may not have such great needs if they are using for cycle trips rather than stays abroad for weeks covering large areas and assorted maps.

    Recently, 4UMaps is not working on the higher levels. Using NaviMapper in Windows to view/download maps, when you scale up past levels 7 and higher. It cannot load the maps, and when you try to select an area to download a selected area without being able to see it, it errors. Is 4UMaps dead or limiting the levels of detail?

    Hi, I'm a long term user of the windows mobile version and still use it now but having owned a wp7 handset for some time would really like to stop having to bring my old and tired wm handset out with me whenever I want to use navicomputer!
    I know that you have said that you were having issues and were thinking of waiting for wp8 but how much functuality does the wp7 version have?

    There are some people out there like myself with fully unlocked handsets who can easily install unofficial cap files and would love to have navicomputer on wp7 buggy or not!

    please forgive me for posting this in two topics, I'm not sure what gets read on here or which one is the most relevant, please feel free to delete one

    En cuanto a la agresión del 28 de febrero, indicaron que tienen plenamente identificados a los funcionarios que actuaron en su contra para reventar” la manifestación y, cuando no lo lograron, enviaron al grupo de choque que agredió y lesionó a más de diez personas que participaban en la protesta. Así lo aseguró el director regional noreste de la CFE, Víctor Fernández, quien a su vez recordó que estos contratos obligan también a tener un 30 por ciento de contenido nacional, siempre y cuando sean aquellos que presenten las propuestas que logren bajar los precios del servicio eléctrico.
